Rents split the market in two

Shenzhen listings run from $336 to $816 per m² a year, with the median at $450 — the top rate is about 2.4 times the bottom, and that ratio is the most useful budgeting number in the city. On a median 48 m² suite the arithmetic is concrete: roughly $21,600 a year at the $450 median, while the gap between the cheapest and the dearest rate is worth about $23,000 a year on the same footprint.
